Her popularity is partly due to the fact she had starred in Whedon's next TV hit, Firefly. Summer Glau was very good playing the challenging role of River Tam. Tam in the film, as her character in the film called, was subjected to government experiments that were designed to make her the ideal assassin. Tam's ability to manage emotions was taken away from her. The show Firefly Glau was able to show off not only her acting ability but also her fighting skills.
